NZDF Customer Story

NZDF Leverage insights with Wazoku Crowd

To optimize operations, every organization needs to make sure that its equipment works. Without functioning machinery, most of the work of defense and security companies becomes unachievable. The New Zealand Defence Force recognized this as part of a plan to limit the effects of biofouling on naval vessels.

By leveraging the insights of the Wazoku Crowd, an issue that had the potential to severely reduce the lifespan of vital military equipment had a working solution within months. Scouting for novel solutions in this way illustrates the benefit of open innovation, as it meant the NZDF didn’t have to divert resource that was needed elsewhere.

Using open innovation helped us close the miles between us and potential solutions. With Solvers from the other side of the world, it’s unlikely we ever would have found them without partnering with Wazoku on this Challenge.
