In conversation with Elvin Turner – Swipe Right for Innovation

It’s no secret that innovation is crucial for the success of any organization.

It allows companies to stay competitive, adapt to changing market conditions, and ultimately grow and thrive. However, a study from Mckinsey found that 65% of leaders experience frustration when it comes to innovation in their organizations.

But why is this the case? It turns out that the very same leaders who are frustrated with their organization’s innovation performance are often the major cause of that frustration. In this webinar, we’ll explore the different relationships that leaders have with innovation and the impact that those relationships have on innovation performance.

We’ll discuss three key relationships that leaders can have with innovation:

  1. Leaders who break up with innovation before it even gets started. These leaders are skeptical of the value of innovation and may see it as a waste of time and resources. They may also be resistant to change and hesitant to embrace new ideas. As a result, their organizations are unlikely to see any significant improvements in innovation performance.
  2. Leaders who “date” innovation, but never fully commit. These leaders may see the potential value of innovation, but they’re not willing to make the necessary investments to support it. They may dabble in innovation projects, but they’re not willing to commit the time, resources, and support that are necessary for those projects to succeed. As a result, their organizations may experience some short-term gains from innovation, but they’re unlikely to achieve long-term, sustainable success.
  3. Leaders who are committed to innovation for life. These leaders understand the value of innovation and are willing to make the necessary investments to support it. They create a culture of innovation within their organizations, provide the resources and support that innovation teams need to succeed, and are willing to take risks and embrace failure as a learning opportunity. As a result, their organizations are likely to see significant improvements in innovation performance and are well-positioned for long-term success.
