Great companies are built by people and the culture that is created in these organizations is often the difference between success and failure. In this series on the Wazoku blog, we take you behind the scenes at Wazoku, getting to know our diverse, extraordinary team that little bit better.

The experiences of our colleagues often serve as a compass, guiding us toward success. In this post, we delve into the insights of Aleena Rupani, Campaign Manager at Wazoku, to unravel the journey that has led her to become an integral part of our organization. Through a series of thoughtful questions, we aim to uncover not only her personal reflections on working here, but also the ways in which Wazoku fosters an environment of growth, reward, and continuous advancement.

How long have you been with the company, and what attracted you to work here in the first place?

I started working at Wazoku two and a half years ago. I had just graduated from university and was looking for an entry-level job in marketing. Sustainability and altruism are part of my core beliefs, so it was important to me to work for a purpose-driven organization. With ‘Change the World, One Idea at a Time’ as its slogan, Wazoku piqued my interest. Admittedly, I hadn’t heard of innovation management software before learning about Wazoku and was compelled by how niche the offering was and its mission to enable organizations to do better. My first role at Wazoku was as a Marketing Associate, focusing on driving the organic social media presence.

What has been the most rewarding aspect of your job so far?

Working for an organization where the mission statement aligns with my values is a win, but I think the opportunities I have had to connect with different people around the world has been the most rewarding part. In recent years, Wazoku has expanded its global team, which has allowed me to work with people from across the globe. This has exposed me to diverse perspectives, cultures, and approaches to work. Additionally, having the space to learn new skills every day and working across teams to learn about different parts of the business has made showing up to work every morning exciting.

What opportunities have you had for professional development or growth within the company?

At Wazoku, I’ve been promoted twice: first to Social Marketing Lead after a year and a half, and then in just a few months, I stepped into my current role as Campaign Manager. My ambition and drive have always been rewarded with new opportunities to move up in the organization. There is always room for anyone in the organization to share their good ideas and implement them. There is a big focus on learning and development, both formally and informally, through access to useful resources but also knowledgeable people within the company willing to show you the ropes.

In what ways has working here contributed to your personal and professional growth?

As a fresh graduate, starting in the working world can be daunting, but I’ve always been encouraged to be confident about my ideas and initiatives at Wazoku. This has allowed me to hone my skills as a marketer in an environment where innovating without the fear of failure is encouraged.

What advice would you give to new employees joining the company?

Be passionate, be willing to make mistakes and learn from them, and take initiative.
